Glenn S. Bacal has advised leading companies in intellectual property matters for nearly 30 years, and is a co-author of nationally recognized publications about trademark law.
Mr. Bacal was educated at and has received degrees from Columbia, Oxford, and UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall and Haas School of Business).
His practice encompasses both litigation and counseling in the areas of trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, advertising, computer law and unfair competition. His clients are national, international and local.
Mr. Bacal has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for over a decade. He has been recognized in various listings, including among others, Southwest Super Lawyers, Litigation Counsel of America Society, AZBusiness Top Lawyers List, and in international publications such as Who's Who Legal USA-Trademarks, published in London.
Mr. Bacal has been active in both the Intellectual Property Section and the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Arizona. He has played a leading role in the International Trademark Association ("INTA"), including service as chair of the Publications Committee. Since 2003, Mr. Bacal has authored the Arizona chapter of INTA's State Trademark and Unfair Competition Law. He also headed up the Intellectual Property Departments at two of Arizona's best known law firms, and served as the Managing Attorney for Business Relations and Development for a regional law firm before deciding to leave BigLaw and set up his own firm.
Early in his career, some of the finest lawyers in America mentored Mr. Bacal, and in turn he has been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to mentor some remarkable younger lawyers who have become highly respected. Mr. Bacal's mentoring advice was published by the State Bar of Arizona in an article entitled Secrets of a Mentor: How Young Lawyers Can Purposefully Evolve into Good and Happy Lawyers.
Mr. Bacal's interest in the law developed from observing his father's role in leading cases concerning copyright and music. Mr. Bacal's father was one of the leading musicologists in the country for nearly 50 years. He had been a pioneer in the radio and television industries, and he was also involved in the movie industry. Mr. Bacal's father testified from time to time in high profile music plagiarism cases.
